Karina qualified with an Arts Degree from Nottingham University and spent the last few years living and painting in Switzerland and Germany. She had her first sell-out solo show at the Münchener Volkshochschule in 2000. Returning home in 2002, her distinctive works have been warmly received at shows in Cork and Dublin.
She works in several styles, mainly figurative using acrylics on canvas and mixed media. Influenced by a wide range of artists, including Mark Rothko, Edward Hopper, Jack Vettriano and John Lavery, she is particularly interested in portraying the depths of human passion and emotion - jealousy, hate, love, fear and protection are common themes running throughout her work. Another area she is keen to explore is the innocence of childhood.
Commissions accepted. Karina is actively involved in the art community and is President of the Maclise Art Society, one of the longest established societies in Cork. She is also Special Projects Editor with Irish Art .
She has exhibited at the Maulberger Gallery in Munich and at the Cork Vision Centre.
